Liverpool
Form & Tactical Outlook:
Andoni Iraola's Liverpool have won five consecutive matches across all competitions heading into Sunday's clash. A 2-0 victory over Brighton last weekend—achieved despite holding only 36% possession, their second-lowest on record in a Premier League home win—marked their third victory from their last four top-flight games, moving the Reds up to fourth in the table, six points behind Arsenal and Manchester City. That victory was flanked by two further Anfield wins: a Champions League triumph over Villarreal and Wednesday's EFL Cup penalty-shootout elimination of Chelsea. In 2026, Iraola has suffered just two defeats across 27 Premier League matches (alongside 13 draws), though one of those losses came against Arsenal in January during his tenure at Bournemouth.
Team News:
Neither Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring) nor Victor Munoz (knee) have been ruled out, with Iraola confirming both have "a chance" to feature. Florian Wirtz quickly overcame an ankle knock to feature against Chelsea in midweek and will return to the starting lineup. Hugo Ekitike (Achilles), Conor Bradley (knee), Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring), and Giovanni Leoni (knee) remain unavailable. After heavy midweek rotation, Alexander Isak (six goals in his last six Premier League appearances) and Bradley Barcola (three goals and two assists in his last four matches) will return alongside Wirtz.
Arsenal
Form & Tactical Outlook:
Mikel Arteta's defending Premier League champions travel to Anfield following an EFL Cup fourth-round exit against League Two outfit Fleetwood Town, drawing 1-1 before losing on penalties. In the Premier League, however, Arsenal sit second only on goal difference to Manchester City, having won seven of their eight matches in 2026-27 following last weekend's 2-0 home victory over Everton. The Gunners have lost just one of their last eight Premier League matches against Liverpool, but have not won a top-flight match at Anfield since 2012 (when Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla scored), risking a 14-game winless league streak away to Liverpool for the first time in club history.
Team News:
Max Dowman begins a three-match domestic ban after the FA upheld his red card against Fleetwood Town. Bukayo Saka remains sidelined with a severe quad injury, while Noni Madueke (ankle) is doubtful, and William Saliba (back) is a long-term absentee. Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori, and Christos Tzolis have all trained and are expected to be available. Following changes from the midweek tie, Illan Meslier, Piero Hincapie, Martin Zubimendi, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Cristhian Mosquera will all drop out of the starting lineup
