Real Sociedad
Form & Tactical Outlook:
Pellegrino Matarazzo's Real Sociedad sit 14th in the Europa League table with four points from their opening three matches (one win, one draw, one loss). Following a 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth and a 1-1 draw with Union SG, they recorded a 6-0 win over Lillestrom in their last European outing on October 22. Domestically, the Basque side enter Thursday's clash following a 2-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby on Sunday—their first defeat in all competitions since September 17—having won three of their previous four matches prior to that setback. Following this fixture, Real Sociedad are scheduled to play Crystal Palace, Torreense, Viktoria Plzen, and Juventus.
Team News:
Real Sociedad will be without Luken Beitia, Alvaro Odriozola, and Arsen Zakharyan through injury. Midfielder Luka Sucic is the team's top goalscorer this season with six goals in 13 appearances and will feature in the final third, while Spain's Mikel Oyarzabal will start in attack.
Lyon
Form & Tactical Outlook:
Paulo Fonseca's Lyon currently occupy 12th position in the Europa League table with six points from three fixtures (two wins, one loss). The French outfit opened their continental campaign with a 2-1 win over Anderlecht and a 3-2 victory against Crystal Palace, before falling to a 3-0 defeat against Hoffenheim on October 22. In Ligue 1, Lyon enter the match following a 2-0 win over Angers, which halted a run of back-to-back losses. In the remainder of the league stage, Lyon will face Lillestrom, Union SG, Jagiellonia, and Bayer Leverkusen.
Team News:
Nicolas Tagliafico, Mohamed Ouedraogo, Tyler Morton, Pavel Sulc, and Lois Openda are all sidelined with injuries. Twenty-one-year-old midfielder Noah Nartey, who has scored two goals this season, will be in the starting lineup, and Keito Nakamura is also expected to start in an attacking position.
